James Arthur Jackson

U.S. Veteran

James Arthur Jackson, 80, of Great Falls, a retired insurance agent United States Navy and Korean War veteran, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his home from natural causes.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral home.

James was born August 24, 1931 in Great Falls to Meryl and Lucille Jackson.  He was raised and educated in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1949.  He then moved on to attend the University of Montana graduating in 1956.  From 1952 to 1956 he was a Navy Aviation Electronics Tech 1st class Petty Officer and Served during the Korean War.  He worked for National Cash Resister for a while before moving on to work for Allstate Insurance Company.

He loved outdoor activities such as bird hunting (he was an excellent shot) and fly fishing.  He was extremely proud of his gardening skills and loved to travel.

James is survived by his wife Gloria (Ivy) Jackson of Great Falls; sons, Jamie Jackson and Randy Jackson both of Great Falls; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Jackson in 1980; sister, Marabelle Matteucci; and brother, Richard M. Jackson.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Peace Hospice of Montana or a charity of donor’s choice.
