Allen Wayne Shumate

November 22, 1957 — March 24, 2026

Great Falls

Allen Shumate, 68, of Great Falls, Montana passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Allen was born November 22, 1957, to Carland Lavonne Shumate. In 1979, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

In 1991, Allen married the love of his life, Andrea Shumate. Two years later, in 1993, they welcomed their son, Travis Shumate. Allen and Andrea shared 35 years of marriage together, building a life centered around family and hard work.

He spent most of his life working in the trucking industry. He worked for ConAgra Trucking for many years before venturing on his own and starting his own business, Double A Trucking. Later in life, he worked for CHS Trucking. Following a fall that caused injuries, Allen was forced to end the career he loved.

Allen had a passion for the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He loved being out on his red boat during the warmer months at Hauser and Holter Lake. He was also well known for racing dirt track cars across Montana in his #14 race car.

He had a smile that could light up any room. He especially loved working on and building race cars with his son, Travis, who continues the racing tradition across Montana in the #4 car. One of Allen's greatest joys was his grandson, Coopar, who was truly the light of his life.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lavonne Shumate.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Shumate; son, Travis Shumate; stepson, Gregory (Amanda) Burley; sisters, Carla, Jenny, and Penny; daughter-in-law, Morgen Shumate; four grandchildren, and a large family.

Allen will be remembered for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and the many memories he created with those around him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember Allen.
