Charles "Charlie" H. Clough

Charles H. “Charlie” Clough, 87, of Great Falls, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at a local care facility. Funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at O’Connor Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by O’Connor Funeral Home. Charles was born on October 23, 1928 in Cecil County, Maryland to John and Clara Clough. Charles was the youngest of ten children. Clara passed away in 1931 and John in 1942. Charles moved away from the farm after his father’s death and worked various jobs before enlisting in the United States Army during WWII, at the age of 17. After he served for two years as a Private First Class, he was honorably discharged while stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base. Charles married Chelsea Barnett and they had three sons; Charles Jr., John, and Robert. They later divorced and Charles had full custody of his children. Charles later met Jean Ann McGuire of Highwood while the two of them were working at the same company. They married in April of 1954. Charles worked various places in Great Falls and for ranchers in Highwood. He gained employment at Great Falls High School and obtained a Boiler Maker License. This license enabled him to gain a Civil Service position at Malmstrom Air Force Base at the Heating Plant. After 23 years Charles retired from the Civil Service in 1986. Charles enjoyed camping, boating, bowling, softball, horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends. Charles is survived by his brother, George Clough; sons Robert Clough of Helena, John Clough of Sacramento, CA, Barry Clough and Roger Clough both of Great Falls, and Chris Clough of Seattle, WA; daughter Brenda Clough-Ray of Benton City, WA; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Mary Ann, Rita, and Dawn Marie; son Charles Jr.; sisters Eva, Hannah Christine, Laura, Clara; and brothers Norman, Wilson, John, and Earle.
