Daniel E. Wipf, 83, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026.

He was born in 1942 in Raymond, Alberta. Early in his life, Daniel worked in agriculture, raising poultry, ducks, and geese, beginning a lifelong dedication to hard work, stewardship, and building with his hands. In 1948, he moved to Milford Colony, Montana. He married the love of his life, Susie, in 1970, and together they built a life rooted in faith, service, and family.

In 1978, Daniel moved to Big Sky Colony, where he lived for the remainder of his life. Following his move to Big Sky Colony, he served in numerous leadership roles. He was elected Field Boss, later Secretary, and in 1978 was elected Minister, a position he faithfully and humbly served for 48 years until his passing.

Daniel was a highly respected leader and senior advisor within the Hutterian Church, and his wisdom, integrity, and steady guidance will be deeply missed. He was actively involved in service to the community, serving on several boards, including healthcare, and was a founding member of the Senior Management Committee, where he also served a term as Chairman.

By trade and passion, Daniel was a fabricator, welder, and professional machinist. When he wasn't in the shop creating and fixing, he could be found operating heavy equipment. His greatest joy being running a scraper or a road grader, anything that involved moving dirt and shaping the land.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susie; sons, Mike (Hilda), Joe, Daniel (Becky), and Eli (Helen); daughter, Mary (Peter); sister, Elizabeth all of Big Sky Colony; and brother, Amos of Elk Creek Colony.

Daniel was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren, whom he dearly loved and for whom he fixed countless broken toys, and a cherished great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, David, Elias, Paul, and John; and sisters, Dorothy and Mary.

Daniel E. Wipf will be remembered as a man of deep faith, quiet strength, tireless service, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. He will be dearly missed.
