Delbert "Deb" Wayne Long

Delbert “Deb” Wayne Long, 96, passed away on May 28, 2026, at hospice care in Great Falls Montana.

Deb was born in Malta, Montana on March 6, 1930, to Frances Holmes Long and Horace Wayne Long. He graduated from Malta High School in 1949 and later attended college at Northern Montana in Havre.

He married Della Olson on July 13, 1951. Together they had their daughter, Leslie; and son, Timothy. They lived in a few towns in Montana and one in North Dakota before settling back in Malta to raise their family.

In 1975, Deb and Della moved to Great Falls. While in Great Falls they had numerous friends, old ones from Malta and new ones they met. While Deb was working for Northwestern National Life they traveled overseas to various places around the world. They enjoyed their travel adventures and decided to buy a Condo in Indio, California for winter vacations. Unfortunately, Della passed away in 1995 after a battle with kidney cancer. Deb retired and continued to winter in Indio.

In 1998, Deb married Mary Lois Stewart and continued spending summers in Great Falls and winters in California. Mary Lois passed away in 2023.

Deb was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Slaght; father, Wayne Long; twin half-brothers, Larry and Jerry Slaght; and half-sisters, Darlene Long Olmstead and Myrna Long Kroon.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Long Otto (Don); son, Tim Long (Peggy); half-sister, Beth Long Goertz (Bill); half-brother, Rick Long (Cindy); stepson, Mike Stewart (Lisa); and stepdaughter, Kay Stewart. He is also survived by his grandsons, Christopher “CJ” Otto (Kim) and Matthew Wayne Otto; two great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
