Evette P Hauer

December 15, 1932 — January 10, 2015

Evette Pauline Hauer, 82, of Great Falls passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Peace Hospice due to complications resulting from a recent medical condition. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at the O’Connor Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. She was born in Eagle Bend, Minnesota on December 15, 1932, and was raised on the family farm by her parents, August and Agatha Mechels, with her six brothers and sisters. She married Nicholas Hauer from the same area on April 24, 1951 and they moved to Great Falls the following year. She raised five sons while at the same time, managing rental properties for her family and others. Evette was a 60 year member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and the Ladies Altar Society. She and her husband started the Hauer’s Roll-O-Rena roller skating rink which they owned and operated for over 25 years. She trained with HR Block and volunteered preparing taxes and did volunteer work for the Poor Clares. She loved camping, needlepoint, dancing and especially the cabin at Seeley that she and Nick built and shared with anyone who wanted to visit. She loved family and friends, was a former member and avid dancer in the Moose Lodge, and she still attended activities at the Eagles. Evette is survived by sons, Allan (Betty) Hauer, Danny (Lisa) Hauer and Dean (Vicky) Hauer, all of Great Falls, son Jerry (Beth) Hauer of Washington, and Dianne Hauer (widow of Neal Hauer) of Great Falls; brothers Duane (Carol) Mechels of Great Falls, Chris Mechels of New Mexico; sisters Charlotte (Darold) Hauer of Minnesota and Carol Babcock of Nebraska; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Nick; sister, Betty; brother Maynard; son Neal Hauer and daughter-in–law Joan Hauer.
