James McAllister, 76, of Geyser passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his residence. Funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at11:00 a.m. at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Geyser with rite of committal to follow at the Geyser Cemetery. A social gathering will follow at the Geyser Community Hall. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. James was born August 14, 1938 to Donald and Helen McAllister. He grew up on a ranch south of Geyser. Ranching became his lifelong passion and he continued ranching in the Geyser area for his entire life. James served in the United States army from July of 1958 until he was honorably discharged in April of 1961. He enjoyed writing cowboy poetry and performing at various cowboy poetry gatherings. James is survived by his wife, Myna McAllisterr; daughters Shawn Neilson of Geyser and Katie Nelsen of Port Orchard, WA; step-sons Dan Noland of Great Falls and Brett Noland of Geyser; sister Donna Marko of Spokane; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and previous wife Jane. Memorial donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or a charity of donor’s choice.
