John "Jack" Broiher

September 2, 1930 — September 12, 2014

John “Jack” Broiher, 84, of Great Falls, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 at a local care facility. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Jack was born on September 2, 1930 in Duluth, MN to August and Marcella (Bach) Broiher where he grew up and received his education. He started working for the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1948 now known as BNSF Railroad. He retired in 1992 after working for them for 44 years. In 1951, he was drafted in the US Army and served in Korea for two years, and the US Army Reserve for five years. In April of 1991 Jack married Frances Woods and she became the love of his life, they loved each other’s company and traveled extensively. Frances became his caregiver the last few years, almost to the end. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to see hockeythe old Minnesota Stars, his famous Minnesota Vikings, and Minnesota Twins, which they both missed after moving back to Montana. After moving here from Lincoln he became addicted to golf thanks to his brother-in-law Harold. He also got his favorite daughter Vicky hooked on the game, to the point that he bought her a good set of golf clubs. He was a “Jack of all Trades,” good at anything he did. Oh yes, he had to be perfect, square, plum, and level. Jack is survived by his wife Frances of Great Falls; son Steven Broiher of Duluth, MN; daughters Ruthann Cesa of Minneapolis, MN, Linda Juno of Kansas City, MO, and Vicky (Greg) Cooper of Great Falls; grandchildren Brianna and Madison Cooper of Missoula, Morgan and Madelyn Cesa, Adrienne Juno, and granddog Hoagie. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Marcella Broiher; brother, Earl Broiher; and his late wife Joyce Broiher. Special thanks to all who helped with his care, especially Peace Hospice. Donations can be made to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
