Lola Rae (Hansen) Milton Barnard, 68, of Sun River, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sun River LDS Church, 845 US-89. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Lola was born on June 30, 1947 in Great Falls to Mary and Leon Elwood Hansen. She was raised in Vaughn on the family farm and graduated from Simms High School. Lola worked for a local nursing home for over 20 years, at Eagle Athletics making jackets, and also at the Roundup Hospital and the Roundup Elementary School. She was an active member of the LDS Church and gave freely of her time. She volunteered at the Sun River Senior Center, was a member of the Skunk Wagon Auto Club, Eagles Women’s Auxiliary, Sun River Saddle Club, Fort Shaw Homemakers Club, Falls Quilt Guild, and participated in the Montana Centennial Cattle Drive. She was a leader in both the Girl Scouts and 4-H. Lola was a true farm girl. She loved horses, saddle club, o-mok-sees, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and finding a good bargain. She was an avid sewer and quilter. She was an amazing cook and was always planning the next meal. Above everything she loved her family. She will be truly missed. Lola is survived by her husband, Rodney D.A. Barnard; daughter Mary Ellen (Rick) Farrar of Missoula; sons Raymond Lee Milton of Havre and Tad (Bobbi) Tidwell of Cottonwood, ID; sister Connie (Rick) Silva; brothers Bill (Cindi) Hansen and Ken (Cindy) Hansen; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Sun River Valley Historical Society, Sun River Valley Senior Center, or Peace Hospice.
