Paul Herman Grunenwald Sr, 87, passed away on November 19, 2025, in Great Falls, Montana due to natural causes.

Paul was born January 12, 1938, in Dale Township, Minnesota to Herman and Frieda Grunenwald. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1958 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1976. Paul attended the College of Great Falls from 1985-1987, receiving an associate’s degree in computer science.

While stationed in Germany, Paul met the love of his life, Karoline Kornbauer. They had celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing in 2015.

Paul enjoyed many outdoor activities including horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and most of all, sitting around the campfire with friends. In his later years, he enjoyed his gardening around the house. He also picked up baking for his Bible studies and church activities.

He is survived by his son, Paul (Sue) Grunenwald Jr of Great Falls; brother, Daniel Grunenwald of Arizona; grandchildren, Matthew Grunenwald, Amber Thompson, Lindsey Carey, and Aaron Grunenwald; and great-grandchild, Audrey Grunenwald.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Frieda Grunenwald; wife, Karoline Grunenwald; daughter, Helga Grunenwald; and brothers, Stanley Grunenwald and Michael Grunenwald.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on January 10, 2026, at Vineyard Church, 1617 6th Ave N, Great Falls.
