Phyllis Jean Cooper Lee Garrett, 98 years old, passed away on August 14, 2026, in Great Falls, Montana of natural causes.
Phyllis was born March 27, 1928, in Great Falls. She was the seventh of 14 children born to Charles and Louise Cooper. Phyllis married Robert E. Lee in 1947. They had five children, Alice Jean, Roberta Marie, Bonnie Kay, Robert J., and Patricia Ann. In 1987, Phyllis married Dennis Garrett.
In 1946, Phyllis worked as an elevator operator at the bank. After marrying and having children, she raised kids and ran the house, which included picking chokecherries and making syrup. After the children were grown, she engaged in several activities, housekeeper at St. Luke’s, election poll worker and judge, volunteer and officer at the V.F.W., and volunteer at the Angel Room and Saint Vincent de Paul Food Distribution Center.
In 2018, Phyllis moved to Golden Eagle Plaza. She enjoyed the social activities and even though GE was not initially her idea, she came to view it as her home. And the staff took excellent care of her to the very end.
Phyllis is survived by her brothers, Jerry Cooper and Barney Cooper; children, Alice (Dave) Marzolf, Bonnie Kay Klamm, Robert J. Lee, and Patricia (Bill) Korst; grandchildren, Dave (Kim) Marzolf, Tom (Jennifer) Marzolf, Megan (Trey) Torres, Roberta (Cheyenne) Tubo-Lee, Eric (Shanna Lynn Rosenbaum) Nassett, and Levi Korst; 12 great grandchildren; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Roberta “Berta” Lee; husbands, Robert E. Lee and Dennis Garrett; and 11 siblings.
