Robert Berry

July 16, 1946 — September 2, 2014

Robert Allen Berry, 68, of Great Falls died on September 2, 2014 in Post Falls, ID due to heart failure. A memorial service will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Great Falls Church of Christ, 3400 Central Avenue. OConnor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Bob was born on July 16, 1946 in Corpus Christi (he always liked to say he was born in the Body of Christ), TX. He graduated from W.B. Ray High School there. He later joined the U. S. Air Force and retired in 1990 after serving 24 years and 7 months. He enjoyed tours in Alaska, Texas, Turkey, Greece, and Spain but his favorite assignment was the 11 years at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls. Until his health became a deterrent, he was an avid sportsman, finding the opportunities for fishing, hunting, and skiing to be some of his reasons for requesting Malmstrom as his return assignment after Spain. He had a lot of hobbies, excelling at many of them. Bob and his Karamursel, Turkey skeet shooting team were invited to compete in the Turkish Nationals and they brought home most of the trophies. He was always happy to be golfing and he liked to tie flies, go bowling, and camping. After retiring from the Air Force, he went back to school, graduating from MSU Northern with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. He then spent most of his nursing career at Marias Medical Center in Shelby, Montana working at his dream job until taking a medical retirement. Bob made his decision to follow the Lord as a teenager. Through the years he appreciated opportunities to serve as a song leader, preacher, and Bible class teacher at the various congregations where he was stationed. His church family in Great Falls was the primary reason that he requested orders to return to Great Falls upon leaving Spain. Ultimately, he was privileged to serve as an elder there while his health permitted. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth (Beth), his son Robert Wayne of Great Falls, daughter Susan Corbeil (Tim) and cherished grand-daughters Jaycie Corbeil and Erin Corbeil of Moore, OK, brothers Ron Berry (Carol) of Grass Valley, CA and Rick Berry (Donna) of Helotes, TX, sister Raye Dene Berry of Nashville, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father George Wakefield Berry and his mother Sarah Nadine Sullivan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Falls Church of Christ building fund, 3400 Central Avenue, Great Falls, MT 59401 or to the Yellowstone Bible Camp, c/o Great Falls Church of Christ.
