Rosa ‘Rosie’ McDermott passed away August 31, 2018 in Great Falls, Montana.Memorial services will be on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1410 13th St. So., Great Falls. Rosie was born on April 18, 1934 in Bavaria, Germany to Gunda and John Hennemann.In 1951, Rosie came to the USA to live with her aunt and uncle in Ramsay, Montana.Rosa graduated from Butte High School in 1955 and went on to Montana State College (MSU) in Bozeman where she graduated in 1959.She met her husband Patrick the same year.They were married in Butte, Montana in 1960 and made their home in Great Falls for 25 years where they raised their sons John and Bruce.Rosie was a teacher and homemaker in Great Falls. In later years, Pat and Rosie moved to Ramsay, Montana and returned to Great Falls two years ago.Rosie’s biggest joys in life were her family, friends and pets as well as her many travels, especially the cruises. Her greatest joy was cooking/baking, gardening, love for all animals, and serving others. Rosie is survived by Patrick, her husband of 58 years and love of her life; sons John (Melodie) of Billings and Bruce (Kristin) of Great Falls; grandsons Kyle and Riley; granddaughters Hannah Mimnaugh and Carrie (Jess) Walling; and great-grandchildren Eden, Maya, and Ryder.She is also survived by two sisters in Germany as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.Rosie had numerous pets she adored.She will be missed by so many whose lives she impacted more than she will ever know. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to have donations made to Peace Hospice or Our Lady of the Rockies in Butte. Rosie and her family wish to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Benefis Hospital who showed the utmost empathy and care in her final moments.Further, the family wishes to thank Peace Hospice for the care and love shown to Rosie over the past year.
