Walter Peter “Pete” Bink Jr. was born on May 15, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Walter Bink and Charlotte Molumby.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Fort Shaw Bible Church.

In 1945, his family moved to Great Falls, Montana, where Pete grew up alongside his brother, John. He attended Catholic and public schools in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Production and Animal Science from Montana State University in Bozeman.

Pete had a lifelong love for horses, ranching, and the outdoors. He lived his life full tilt, skiing, fishing and rodeoing, before being drafted into the US Army, serving from 1964 to 1966. Following his military service, he worked for various ranchers and in construction throughout Montana and Alaska. Ranching was more than a way of life for Pete; it was something he truly loved. In 1969, he and his brother John purchased a ranch together, beginning a chapter that would shape the rest of his life. Beginning in 1987, Pete made his career as a maintenance technician at the Great Falls Refinery, retiring in 2019.

In 1977, Pete married Roberta “Bobbie” Hanson, and together they built a life on the ranch, where they raised their four children and shared 48 years of marriage. Some of their most treasured family memories were made packing into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, where Pete and Bobbie passed along their love of horses, the mountains, and the outdoors to their children.

Above all else, Pete's relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. He faithfully attended Fort Shaw Bible Church for 45 years and believed that his greatest responsibility was to teach his family about God, not only through words but through the example he set each day. His faith was sincere, unwavering, and reflected in the way he treated others.

Pete held firmly to the promise found in Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

His faith was especially evident in the heartfelt prayers he offered before meals and at family gatherings. When Pete bowed his head to say grace, his gratitude for the blessings of family, work, health, and home was genuine and deeply felt. He believed in loving God and loving your neighbor as yourself, and he lived that belief through his actions. Whether a neighbor needed an extra hand, a job needed doing, or someone simply needed help, Pete was there. He generously gave his time and abilities, never expecting anything in return.

While God always came first, family was Pete's greatest earthly treasure. When asked what he wanted, his answer was simple: he wanted his family around him. To Pete, true success wasn't measured by possessions or accomplishments, but by seeing his children grow in their faith, love Jesus, and genuinely enjoy spending time together.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and family man who made time for the people he loved. Whether attending games, rodeos, concerts, or other activities, Pete could be counted on to show up, support his family, and offer encouragement, in the form of a loud “Haye Yee!” He could be heard over any crowd, and you knew he was there. His presence was steady, his love was genuine, and his greatest joy was simply being surrounded by those he loved.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bobbie; their four children, Jessica (Travis) Becker, Elizabeth (Josh) Lippert, Danielle (Brian) Colesworthy, and Loy (Polliana) Bink; and his grandchildren, John Lippert, Abigail Becker, Kyson Bink, and Maisie Colesworthy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gerry Bink; nieces and nephews, Jonda (Chris) Schimschat, Josh (Katrina) Bink, Adam (Tina) Bink, and Suzanne (Casey) Currey; and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Charlotte; sister, Jeanine; brother, John; and his nephew, Jacob.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family would like you to follow Pete's example in blessing your neighbors by lending a helping hand.
