Obituary for Robert "Bob" James Knedler

Robert “Bob” James Knedler, 60, of Geraldine, MT passed away on February 8, 2021, at his residence of non-Covid related natural causes.

Robert was born on May 30, 1960, in Fort Benton, MT. His parents were James and Marcella Knedler and Rosalie Charbonneau. For much of his life, “Bobby” worked by his dad’s side on the family farm in Geraldine; his most recent job, and the one that gave him the most pride and satisfaction, was as a custodian at the Geraldine School for the last 5 years. He was an active and proud member of the Sons of the American Legion, and enjoyed his role as part of the color guard on Memorial Day and at veterans’ funerals.

Bob was a familiar fixture in his hometown: he was dedicated to keeping sidewalks plowed and the daily calendars changed at local businesses; he loved his milk shakes at Milk & Honey, his daily candy bar from Joyce Fuel & Feed, and his iced tea at Rusty’s. The Geraldine community took care of Robert, looked out for him, and in return, he was always willing to help out anyone who asked. Many people knew one or more of his daily routines, and many people noticed when he failed to carry them out on February 8th. He loved his newly discovered family members, and was very proud that he was part of such a large family. He was an avid gun enthusiast, loved his four wheeler, his 2009 Chevy Duramax diesel truck, and of course, his beloved hydraulic dump-bed gooseneck trailer.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marcella Knedler and Rosalie Charbonneau. He is survived by his sisters, Irene Stone, Brenda Freeman, and Rosie English; brothers, Doug, Curt, and Brad Fogle; and nieces and nephews, Brennan, Chelsea, Hayley, Molly May, Verge, MonteRay, Mariah, and River Rose.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
